Myrtle Beach Locals: Life at the Beach
Welcome to Myrtle Beach Locals ~ a glimpse into what we locals do for fun, and what we think about our tourist town.
As year-round residents of Myrtle Beach, we are always being asked by visitors on vacation what
attractions we think are best, what
restaurants we frequent, what
nightclubs we like, and so on and so forth. So we decided to answer these kinds of questions here, which either you'll find useful or toss out as boring dribble.
We'll rate all of the above, as well as adding our opinions, and those submitted to us, about the local traffic ordeals, which live shows and concert venues we think are pretty darn good, what we see happening in the Myrtle Beach real estate market, what shopping malls we frequent and what places we avoid !
We'll always have links to a bunch of recent local pictures of the beach and points of interest, as well as to other Myrtle Beach locals personal websites and blogs.
Speaking of which, there's an updated gallery of just
beach and ocean photos that have some really great pictures of different areas of the beach...
Today we came across a really cool site for people (like us!) who love Jimmy Buffet - and it's done by a local. Check out the
local Parrot Head Club --- looks like they're doing some great charity work AND having a ton of fun!
We also found a really neat Coastal Carolina student's blog the other day... very interesting reading at
Richie's Journal.
Another local's site we came across with tons of
Myrtle Beach information is a site done by local Victoria Hawley, where she catalogs golf, restaurants, fishing, bikers, shopping and tons more useful stuff.
And -- though we help administer it, here's another local site, a
Myrtle Beach Message Board which has lots of useful information for everyone. We've tried to donate as much time as possible, as well as have other locals donate time, to help provide information about the area. There are some useful posts by locals and visitors, and we hope you get the time to check out some of the information posted there over the past six years.
We went to a local restaurant for dinner the other evening, and were treated to an exceptional group of men playing jazz with such finesse that we were quite moved. While there, we met a local musician,
Doug Fankhauser, who also plays at various venues on the Grand Strand, although mostly on the south end.
Until the next update, happy reading !
